Tasuki Run

A four-day ceremonial run around Mt. Fuji in 2017, an event that Hawai‘i delegates attend every year. Stopping at important shrines and temples along the route, the Tasuki runners carry a Shinto staff adorned with bells and multi-colored ribbons that represent all the peoples of the world. This international relationship forged through ceremony, was inspired by the Cali Ancestral Run, and the Hawaiʻi ʻAha Holo.  Japanese students returned to their homelands and set up a ceremonial run focused on the sacred mountain of Fuji. Delegations from both Hawaiʻi and California tribes journey to support and build relations through ceremony and site specific workshops.
